Struggling with Lyme and tick-borne diseases

I recently posted the following message to my Face Book friends. I thought I should fill you in too so you’ll know why I haven’t been active with blogging lately…

medicine

I’m writing from my sick bed. Because you have been praying for me and checking on me I think you deserve an update. In a nutshell, I’m very sick. I’ve been running high fevers, chills, and have intense pain all over my body especially in my head. I have been offering it to God for His holy will. He is the Divine Physician and knows just what we need. I was in bed most of all last week due to the high fevers, chills, and pain. I was hoping that the fevers had subsided, (but knew I needed to get to the doctor due to the lingering severe pain), but the high fever came back last night and this morning along with the heart racing and more intense pain. Thankfully, I saw a very good Lyme disease doctor this morning. He pointed out the three tickborne diseases that I have according to my blood work that are very bad and very active and are wreaking havoc on my body. I also have some sort of bacterial pneumonia. That was a surprise! I will start my treatment tonight. I will be taking three different kinds of very strong antibiotics along with probiotics. Please pray that the medicine will work and that I won’t have any reactions to it (I have had severe reactions to some meds in the past). Sometimes the tick-borne diseases get much worse (after starting the strong meds.) before they get better. I really need to get all of this terrible stuff (bacteria) out of my body. I have been dealing with it for many many years. It can be very debilitating. Right now I’m at an awful state. But I’m very hopeful and very thankful to have visited with that doctor today. I also received the anointing of the sick recently. So, thank you so much dear friends. I am deeply grateful for your concern and your many prayers. I really need the prayers. God bless you. I’m praying for you too. ❤

I am hoping and praying that the medicine kicks in and does its work so that I can travel to New Jersey to the upcoming Catholic Marketing Network Trade Show coming up in less than two weeks! There I will moderate a couple of panels for the Catholic Writer’s Guild and give a talk for the Ignatius Press audience, which will, in a sense, debut my upcoming memoir: The Kiss of Jesus: How Mother Teresa and the Saints Helped Me To Discover the Beauty of the Cross. I will be signing advance reader copies of my book, Lord willing. The official release for my memoir will be in August.

  3. Hi Donna I will be praying for you and I loved your story regarding your struggles and triumphs. I can empathize more than you can imagine. I am a mother of 8 and I am 2 classes from completing my graduate degree, all for the greater glory of God, his plan in action is amazing. Sometimes we just can’t seem to understand but as you know he allows all things to work together for the greater good for those who love him. I will keep you in my prayers and if you could do the same for me. I am not sure where you live but if you need help I don’t mind coming and helping if needed. May God bless you, and keep you and yours in his loving embrace and protection.

The Lord’s will be done, in whatever way He intends because I know from your writing that you are willing to do things His way. He will bless you in ways you may not even imagine today. • Yes, so true, Linda. When we offer our suffering lovingly to Jesus and ask that He transform it and use it for His glory, He does! he uses our sufferings to help so many. Thank you for your prayers and kind words. God bless! Donna-Marie
