How’s your Lenten Journey going?

How’s your Lenten Journey? Half of the season of Lent has passed. We have a half more to go!

This morning John Harper and I chatted briefly about the season of Lent and the fact that we are half way through this holy penitential season in which we are meant to grow in holiness. We called our segment it a “Mid-Lent Spiritual Tune-Up.” If you missed it, you can listen here anytime. I hope you have a few moments to listen to our chat.

Are you nourishing your faith with spiritual reading? Take even a few moments each day to read from the lives of the saints. It can help to keep you focused and give you a great shot in the arm to get you through your busy days.

Remember–don’t give up! Keep going! Pray and work hard and Our Lord will certainly reward your efforts!

God bless you!

  1. thanks for that! our journey here at Santuario Eucharistico in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Philippines is focusing on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, 30 minute talks after the Mass and evening prayer by our parish priest, Fr Joel. Tonight’s was on ‘clothing the naked and sheltering the homeless’, with many practical suggestions on how to put that into practice, eg going through our wardrobes a couple of times a year and giving away clothes we hardly ever use. Right after that, I ran into a homeless lady outside the church who usually wanders the streets here and gave her something for ‘kaon’ – food. My visayan is between dismal and woeful and her english was not much better so the conversation was short.

    • Walter, Thank you for commenting. I am so happy to know that you are doing this in your area of the Philippines. I’m glad that you had at least a short conversation and that you were able to give her something. You can continue to pray for her. As Mother Teresa would say, “She is “jesus in the distressing disguise of the poorest of the poor.” May God continue to bless you as you strive to do the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy!
